Hi everybody,
For a bunch of different reasons, I will be switching my blog over to here:
www.miranda-meeks.tumblr.com
I wish I could update both, but in order to simplify things, I decided to move forward and make the switch. I'm keeping this blog here as a reference of my progression as an artist and a resource for those who may still want it.
I'll be updating frequently with new work and sketches. If you'd like to get an update when I post something new, follow me on Twitter or subscribe to my new RSS feed.
Thank you to all my followers here on Blogger, and I hope you'll come visit my Tumblr today!
Thanks,
Miranda
Interview
I had the honor of being interviewed by a wonderful illustrator from Scotland. His name is Robert Dunn and you can read the interview here:

Book Cover - Peter Pan
For our narrative class, we designed the cover for the classic Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. This was my take on it. Turns out, it's a lot harder designing letters than I thought!

Hand Lettering
So it's been a while since I last updated this blog, partially because I'm considering switching over to my other Tumblr blog here. It may or may not happen though, so in the meantime, here is something I worked on this past weekend.
I've been really interested in doing more typography and custom hand lettering lately. My passion for letters has been steadily growing ever since I took a typography class a couple years ago. I decided this past semester that I couldn't ignore it anymore and that I should include some amount of typographic work in my portfolio. And what better way to combine illustration and typography than doing hand lettering?
Till next time!

A simple painting I recently completed for my job working at BYU Independent Study.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Illustration Friday: Explore
Even though little Pinocchio did a lot of bad things, I think it's only because he liked to explore so much.
Here are my two previous Pinocchio posts:

The Gardener: Revisited
You may (or may not) remember this post from a while back:
The Gardener
Well, I got an assignment from school to illustrate a song, and since I wasn't particularly thrilled about my last attempt, I decided to try again.
The song is called "The Gardener" by The Tallest Man on Earth. Listen to the lyrics and, hopefully, this picture will make more sense.
There are some things that I need to tweak and adjust with this image before I call it "portfolio-worthy," but if I don't post it now, I know I never will...
(UPDATE: adjustments have been made!)
